ရှင်ပြု . Shinbyu

Buddha had a son named Rahula. One day, Rahula approached his father and asked for his inheritance. "Very well” said Buddha, "Here then is my legacy to you.” Buddha beckoning one of his disciples to shave the head of the young prince and adorned him with the robe of an ascetic in exchange for his princely robe. Rahula was then bidden to follow Buddha to his forest monastery. ​This is the origin of Shinbyu, Burmese novitiation ceremony.
