Fair Trade Entrepreneurs
Global Mamas was founded in 2003 with the goal of providing sustainable work for women entrepreneurs in Ghana. Starting with only 6 original batikers and seamstresses in Cape Coast, the organization now works with over 500 women and men in 7 different communities with traditional skills including sewing, batiking, bead making and shea butter production. Global mamas partners with over 300 retailers around the globe as well as volunteers who provide support in a variety of areas such as design, marketing, and business training for the entrepreneurs. Global Mamas is committed to fair trade and is a member of the Fair Trade Federation and The World Fair Trade Organization.
